Thank you so very much for writing this book! I’m a 65 year old woman whose sister was enveloped in CS community in Plainfield, NJ. From what I understand, this church under the leadership of its Practitioner broke away from the mother church in the 1980’s. Under her “leadership”, this cult caused great damage to my family. My sister lived in this environment for 30 years, finally escaping in the dead of night 10 years ago. If only my parents, who died in ’93 and ’94 had been able to read your book. We all could have realized that it wasn’t anything we had done to bring on such an estrangement. I no longer choose to have any contact with my sister because she still practices CS. I found that I don’t like the kind of feelings I have when I am around her. Your book has provided me with the closure I need in a situation that has lasted almost 40 years. Thank you for your courage!

Thank you Frances. I’m glad fmg has been a help to you. Mostly, this is what I am hearing from others, although there are some mean nasty folks out there who have been enraged by it. I will be posting information about readings and author visits on my website. If I happen to be in your neck of the woods at any point, and you can come, please introduce yourself! Best, Lucia

    Dear Frances,
Thank you for sharing your own story of Christian Science. I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner or I would have replied right away. FYI, I don’t know if you live near New York, but tomorrow (Wednesday Sept 14th) I am going to be on WNYC’s Leonard Lopate show, at 93.9 fm discussing fathermothergod. I will also be signing books and doing a reading at the Strand Bookstore in NY, at Broadway and 12th Street, from 7-9 pm on the third floor in the Rare Books room. I wonder if this splinter group in Plainfield is still active….
    best wishes,
